Quitting smoking is the best thing you can do to improve your life and health. It’s never too late to reap the benefits, some of which happen within the first few days.
Now Nova Scotians will have easier access to support when considering stopping or cutting back on their tobacco use. Starting April 1st, 2015 support for helping to cut back or quit smoking or using tobacco can be easily accessed through 811. 811 clinicians will have the initial conversations and then navigate people to the Tobacco Free Nova Scotia service.
A telehealth option to assist in smoking cessation is a key part of a comprehensive tobacco strategy. Through Nova Scotia’s comprehensive tobacco control approach, which includes supportive legislation, pricing and individual support, we have been able to significantly reduce smoking rates in our province in the past several years.
